Positive Thinking in the Workplace

Motivation to help boost energy and productivity.

Remember the popular kids’ story ‘The Little Engine That Could.’ In this optimistic tale, a smaller engine comes to the rescue of a long train by repeating his motto ‘I-think-I-can’ and pulling it over a high mountain. By utilizing positive thinking, you can help focus your mind on achieving your goals.

It makes sense that if you eat well and exercise, your body will be in a healthier physical state. It stands to reason that if you fill your mind with a positive or motivating statement, you’ll be in a healthier mental state.

How do you choose a positive word or phrase? To start, it should be personalized to you.

  • Are you trying to be more productive at work? Choose something that makes you feel like you can take on the world!
  • Are you struggling with confidence? Try this: “I listen to my inner voice, my intuition, and my own direct experience.”
  • Do you want to be more creative? Maya Angelou once said, “If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”
  • Are you always trying to do too much? Remember that “I am enough, I do enough. I have enough.”

But why should you try to think more positively in the first place? Positive thinking can boost productivity by stimulating your brain and helping it function at its best. It can also help increase energy, making you more awake and ready to get your work done. Positive thinking also reduces stress – and who doesn’t need a little extra stress reduction?

The positive phrase or word you choose can be anything that has meaning to you and helps you reset and focus. You can change your positive phrase as often as needed. Just remember, whenever you get overwhelmed in your day-to-day work life, you’ve got this!
