AOPD Concludes a Successful 2020 Annual Meeting

St. Charles, IL (March 18, 2020) — AOPD has just concluded its Annual Meeting, “Engage 2020,” at The Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, TX.  The AOPD Annual Meeting provides the opportunity for AOPD Business Partners and Dealers to discuss sales and marketing strategies for the upcoming year.  In addition, there are education and networking sessions spread throughout the agenda.

Mark Leazer, AOPD Executive Director stated, “What an unusual meeting.  Certainly, unprecedented for any of us to deal with hosting a meeting in the ramp up to what has become a global pandemic.  But we were able to persevere and hold a pretty successful meeting in an interesting time for our industry.  We have had very positive feedback from our Dealers and Business Partners, especially around the renewed focus of our one-to-one meetings on sales and marketing and AOPD contract business and our educational sessions and Town Hall on dealer peer-sharing and success stories.  Sharing such experiences inspires confidence in other dealers that they can compete for and win larger pieces of business using the resources of AOPD and its nationwide network.”  He continued,  “I’m also grateful to Rick Toppin of SP Richards and Joe Templet of Essendant, for stepping in on late notice due to cancellations to share about the City of Hope at our COH Awards Dinner.  These two Spirit of Life Honorees are naturals when it comes to sharing their passion for City of Hope.”

AOPD’s President, Kim Vogel commented, “At a time of so much uncertainty bringing our business partners and dealers to work together for one common goal how to generate sales shows how we are winning together.  Contract Sales continue to grow exceeding 60% over the last five years. Dealers continue to work together with identifying the AOPD brand creating organic conversations with customers. Our marketing efforts are taking hold with updated branding , catalog inserts , video landing page and strategically using LinkedIn. It is an exciting time hearing the success stories from multiple dealers, as we continue to make positive moves in our industry.”

At the Awards Dinner on Tuesday night AOPD presented six new awards to recognize the dealer’s success in 2019.  The winners were:

  • Kennedy Office Supply – Highest percentage growth by a contracting dealer
  • Preferred Business Solutions – Highest dollar growth by a contracting dealer
  • Warehouse Direct – Highest percentage growth for the NCPA Contract
  • Kenney’s Office Supply – Highest dollar growth for the NCPA Contract
  • Preferred Business Solutions – Highest percentage growth for the Premier Contract
  • FSIoffice – Highest dollar growth for the Premier Contract

AOPD presented the President’s Award for Dealers to Shawn Menke, of Office Essentials, and Joe Templet, of Essendant, as the Business Partner recipient.  Both awardees are well deserving of this prestigious award and have been long time supporters of AOPD and the IDC.

The 2020 AOPD Board of Directors elected at the meeting by the Dealer members are:
